Nessa is a legendary Wolf Queen in the werewolf supernatural world who possesses the rare and powerful White Wolf. Deeply in love with her fated mate, Alpha Blaze Ashclaw, Nessa makes the ultimate sacrifice: she has her White Wolf sealed away so she can leave her throne and run away with Blaze. Together they have a son, and for a time Nessa believes she has found happiness.

But tragedy strikes when Blaze notices a mysterious birthmark on their son. Misinterpreting the mark as proof that Nessa has been unfaithful to him, Blaze confronts her with accusations of betrayal.
